STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS — People Against Not Knowing University Spirit, better known as P.A.N.K.U.S., is marking its 25th anniversary with a yearlong celebration of Tarleton State pride, campus tradition, lifelong friendship, and a shared commitment to serving something bigger than ourselves.

Since its founding in 2001, P.A.N.K.U.S. has stood as more than a student organization. It has been a family, a support system, a beacon of spirit, and a living reminder that Tarleton State spirit is not something we simply talk about — it is something we carry, protect, and pass forward.

Over the past 25 years, P.A.N.K.U.S. has grown alongside Tarleton State University. What began as a group of students committed to preserving and promoting university spirit has become a multi-generational network of active members, alumni, honorary members, founders, and fallen members whose impact continues to be felt across campus and beyond.

“Our story has never just been about where we started,” said Roberto Rosales, founder of P.A.N.K.U.S. “It is about every student who found a place to belong, every tradition we helped keep alive, every alumnus who stayed connected, and every moment when P.A.N.K.U.S. showed up for Tarleton. This anniversary gives us a chance to honor the past while preparing the organization for its next chapter.”

The anniversary celebration will serve as both a reflection and a recommitment. It will highlight the organization’s history, celebrate the members who helped shape its foundation, and recognize the role P.A.N.K.U.S. has played in promoting campus engagement, peer leadership, school spirit, and lifelong connection.

As part of this milestone year, P.A.N.K.U.S. will also focus on strengthening the organization for the future. This includes launching new leadership conversations, expanding alumni engagement, improving communications, supporting fundraising efforts, and establishing long-term priorities that ensure the organization remains aligned with its mission and with the evolving needs of Tarleton State students.

The anniversary also comes at an important time in the organization’s history. As founding and long-serving leaders begin preparing for future transitions, P.A.N.K.U.S. is taking intentional steps to build a stronger foundation for the next 25 years. This includes the formation of the 25 Forward Advisory Council, a group designed to help guide the future direction of the organization, support succession planning, and help identify the priorities that will carry P.A.N.K.U.S. forward.

“Our responsibility now is to make sure P.A.N.K.U.S. does not simply remember its history, but learns from it,” said Meghann Dodd DiMascio. “We owe it to our founders, our alumni, our current members, and the students who have not even arrived at Tarleton State yet to build something that lasts.”

The 25th Anniversary Celebration will include new digital content, historical highlights, alumni stories, fundraising initiatives, leadership planning, and opportunities for members and supporters to reconnect with the organization’s mission.
